A little over a year ago, Houston was hit with a very serious hurricane and a very intense flood. We weren’t harmed too much but we were stuck in the house for a week. And somehow, someway we wound up watching a lot of food documentaries on Netflix.
There was one that was basically like “plant-based diets cure diabetes.” It was hyperbolic and obviously biased but, for whatever reason, we were really motivated to try it. So in between handfuls of gummy worms and fruit roll-ups (all technically vegan I’ll have you know), we decided to try our hand at veganism and eat a strictly plant-based diet for a week.

This story starts as many do: I was thinking about food. It was a Friday afternoon, work was slow, and I was thinking about what I could sneak into our weekly office order from Fresh Direct. It’s a grocery delivery service that we get sometimes. Because an employee’s happiness is in direct correlation with their proximity to food. Ask Google.

In the spirit of transparency I have to admit there’s a new obsession in my life. One that doesn’t start with “Taylor” and end with “‘s clothes are life.” It’s not even about donuts. Or one of the 35 dogs I follow on instagram (more on that later). But it is about food (a constant obsession in my life).
